Maternity Wedding Gowns
If you're expecting and getting married, you may worry about finding a good maternity wedding gown. You may worry about the color of the gown and if it will still fit when your special day comes. You may worry about what other people will think when they see you seven months pregnant and walking down the aisle. But who says you can't wear a beautiful white, flowing wedding gown? Who says that you can't have your cake and eat it too
A while ago, an impromptu wedding took place early in the pregnancy when the bride was just starting to show or at the courthouse with a justice of the peace and a witness. These days, it's less controversial and not uncommon at all to have a family first before you get married. Thankfully today, the expecting bride doesn't have to hide her pregnancy or wear an off white colored gown if she doesn't want to.
When looking for a maternity wedding gown, consider your style of gown. If you are early in your pregnancy or don't expect yourself to be very far along, then you may be able to get by with getting a wedding gown that is a size larger. Before you buy your wedding gown, make sure there is a seamstress on-hand just in case you need to make alterations at the last minute.
Be on the lookout for an empire line gown or an A-line gown because the gown's structure is flowing. Look for gowns that are off the shoulders or that have a plunging neckline. Go for simple designs. Avoid ball gown type dresses or any gown that has a tight bodice. These are generally not very flattering and can be very uncomfortable. Also avoid flowers that are placed below the breast line or any design that will make your belly look bigger.
Your body is constantly changing, so if you're comfortable doing so then why not flaunt your assets? Since your burgeoning belly seems to be the first thing people notice, then why not buy a maternity dress that accentuates your belly? If you feel your breasts are full and round and beautiful, consider a dress that shows them off. However if you're conservative and don't want to show off your belly or your breasts, then don't. If you feel your arms are too and not as toned as you would like, then don't buy a strapless or spaghetti strapped gown.
Wearing white used to symbolize purity, and in the old days a pregnant bride would have thought to wear white. But times have changed, and while most brides will still wear white to symbolize joy, it is certainly okay for a pregnant bride to wear white. You can also choose to wear off white, cream, ecru, gray, light pastels and even bold colors if you want to. You do not have to limit yourself to color when it comes to choosing your wedding gown.
The purpose of shopping for a maternity wedding gown is to find something that you like and know you will cherish even after the baby is born. You no long have to limit yourself to wearing a champagne colored moo moo. You can do what you want, however you want it. It's your special day (in more ways than one), and you should celebrate it as you see fit.
